And so does the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report: we need to cut the carbon in our atmosphere now.<\/p>\n<p>Extreme heat is not a future problem. It is already here. 2010 to 2019 was the hottest decade ever recorded, and temperatures will continue to rise unless dramatic action is taken.<\/p>\n<p>Industry is responsible for nearly a third of global emissions.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s why the World Economic Forum is bringing together businesses and governments to ensure that we move further and faster.<\/p>\n<p>Over 100 CEO Climate Leaders are setting ambitious carbon commitments and are calling on governments to act.<\/p>\n<p>We are working with over 400 global companies to cut emissions in tough areas like shipping, construction, and aviation.<\/p>\n<p>Through our Tropical Forest Alliance and <a href=\"http:\/\/1T.org\" class=\"autohyperlink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1T.org<\/a> platforms \u2013 we are halting deforestation.<\/p>\n<p>There is even a business case to do the right thing: Cutting carbon emissions can create nearly 400 million jobs and $10 trillion dollars of business value by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>We cannot stop fighting the fires and the floods, but we must act to give the future a fighting chance.<\/p>\n<p><em>First published at<a href=\"https:\/\/travelcommunication.net\/more-news\/organizations\/non-governmental-organizations\/world-economic-forum\/world-economic-forum-president-comments-on-ipcc-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> TravelCommunication.net<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Geneva, Switzerland, August 10, 2021 \/ TRAVELINDEX \/ B\u00f8rge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum, comments on today\u2019s release of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report.
