{"id":1462,"date":"2020-08-25T00:27:45","date_gmt":"2020-08-25T00:27:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/travelcommunication.net\/?p=26179"},"modified":"2020-09-27T09:24:59","modified_gmt":"2020-09-27T09:24:59","slug":"wttc-launches-interactive-covid-19-travel-demand-recovery-dashboard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.travelindex.org\/media\/global-travel-news\/wttc-launches-interactive-covid-19-travel-demand-recovery-dashboard\/","title":{"rendered":"WTTC Launches Interactive COVID-19 Travel Demand Recovery Dashboard"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/travelcommunication.net\/more-news\/organizations\/international-organizations\/world-travel-tourism-council-news\/wttc-launches-interactive-covid-19-travel-demand-recovery-dashboard\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"WTTC Launches Interactive COVID-19 Travel Demand Recovery Dashboard-TRAVELINDEX\" src=\"https:\/\/travelcommunication.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/WTTC-Launches-Interactive-COVID-19-Travel-Demand-Recovery-Dashboard-TRAVELINDEX-500x296.jpg\" alt=\"WTTC Launches Interactive COVID-19 Travel Demand Recovery Dashboard\" width=\"500\" height=\"296\" style=\"max-width: 100%;height: auto\" \/><\/a>\n\t<\/div>\n<p>London, United Kingdom, August 22, 2020 \/ TRAVELINDEX \/ A new in-depth data dashboard highlighting the recovery of travel demand across flights and hotels, as well as revealing the shifting intentions of travellers through online travel searches, has been launched by the World Travel &amp; Tourism Council (<a href=\"https:\/\/travelcommunication.net\/category\/more-news\/organizations\/international-organizations\/world-travel-tourism-council-news\/\">WTTC<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The one-stop data shop or Interactive <strong>COVID-19 Travel Demand Recovery Dashboard<\/strong> was developed by WTTC, which represents the global Travel &amp; Tourism private sector, with support from <strong>McKinsey &amp; Company<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This unique tool provides users with easy access to qualitative and quantitative travel data at the global and regional level as well as for 33 major countries around the world, by revealing travel demand since the beginning of the year and is updated on a fortnightly basis.<\/p>\n<p>The Dashboard offers a useful way to navigate through a vast array of data as travel demand around the world changes, in response to the gradual reopening of country\u2019s borders as travel restrictions are across the globe are eased.<\/p>\n<p>Free to all <a href=\"https:\/\/travelcommunication.net\/category\/more-news\/organizations\/international-organizations\/world-travel-tourism-council-news\/\">WTTC<\/a> Members and non-members, the <a href=\"https:\/\/wttc.org\/Initiatives\/Recovery-Dashboard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dashboard<\/a> presents two distinct views based on Google trends and searches, and bookings via WTTC\u2019s research partners in the project.<\/p>\n<p>Global experts in business intelligence, tourism and travel trends, ForwardKeys, provide flights data, while premium data benchmarking, analytics and marketplace insights provider for global hospitality sectors, STR, shares hotel occupancy levels.<\/p>\n<p>Gloria Guevara, WTTC President &amp; CEO, said: <em>\u201cWe have created a unique dashboard featuring qualitative and quantitative data to provide the insights which could be crucial to help the Travel &amp; Tourism sector re-start and map out the path to its recovery.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOur dashboard will enable decision makers to track the impact of public policies by monitoring the positive and negative fluctuations of flight and hotel bookings and also online travel searches, as well as consumer confidence.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cData is essential for businesses, government and other organisations to make informed choices and drive the policy which will revive a sector that has suffered disproportionally due to the pandemic.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWith one in four jobs new jobs being generated by the Travel &amp; Tourism sector in the last five years, it\u2019s more important than ever that easy access to data on a regional and global level help inform the right choices at the right time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Unveiled today, the <a href=\"https:\/\/wttc.org\/Initiatives\/Recovery-Dashboard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new data dashboard<\/a> offers insights through two main avenues.<\/p>\n<p>The first is via Google Trends, where all the data sourced has been organised into easy-to-understand holiday or trip segments, Adventure, Culture, Urban, Family, Sun &amp; Beach and Travel Services.<\/p>\n<p>Each segmentation has been devised using a set of 20 keywords, covering popular activities, sites and destinations. The segments provide insights at both the regional level and for key Travel &amp; Tourism countries, such as the UK, the US, France and Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>The second comes via regional insights through bi-monthly updates on movements and bookings, with flight information from WTTC\u2019s research partner <strong>ForwardKeys<\/strong>, hotel occupancy and average daily room rates from <strong>STR<\/strong> and the <strong>Google Mobility Index<\/strong>, which shows local recreational activity.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <strong>Global Rescue<\/strong>, the Travel &amp; Tourism global leader and pioneer in medical, security, travel risk and crisis management, provides data showing how \u2018open\u2019 each country or key market is, in the context of travel restrictions imposed to combat coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>WTTC has and continues to play a leading role in driving the Travel &amp; Tourism towards policies which will enable the sector to recovery more quickly from the ravages of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>WTTC\u2019s 2020 Economic Impact Report<\/strong>, during 2019, Travel &amp; Tourism was responsible for one in 10 jobs (330 million total), making a 10.3% contribution to global GDP and generating one in four of all new jobs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>London, United Kingdom, August 22, 2020 \/ TRAVELINDEX \/ A new in-depth data dashboard highlighting the recovery of travel demand across flights and hotels, as well as revealing the shifting intentions of travellers through online travel searches, has been launched by the World Travel &amp; Tourism Council (WTTC).
